The Palacio de Sal in Bolivia is the world’s first hotel built entirely from salt, located on the vast Salar de Uyuni salt flats. Constructed in the mid‑1990s from over one million salt blocks, its walls, floors, furniture, and even golf course are made of salt. Despite its fragile architecture requiring repairs after rain, the hotel offers modern amenities including saunas and saltwater baths. Strict rules forbid guests from licking the walls. With 30 rooms accommodating up to 48 people, the hotel remains a unique attraction, blending novelty with comfort and drawing visitors worldwide.
